Tap repairs in London

Tell us whether the tap drips after it is shut off, leaks only while running or has a loose handle. Those symptoms point to different parts of the fitting. A photo of the tap and the connections under the basin helps us assess access and the likely repair.

Parts vary by tap model and are not promised before inspection. If a matching cartridge or seal is unavailable, we can discuss replacement rather than claiming a repair will always be possible.

Where the tap is leaking

A drip from the spout after the handle is off may have a different cause from water escaping around the base only while the tap runs. A leak on the supply connection under the basin can also damage the cabinet without showing at the spout.

Tell us whether the tap is at a kitchen sink, basin or bath, whether hot or cold water is affected, and whether the handle is loose or stiff. A photograph of the tap and the space beneath it helps assess access and the model.

Safe checks before you contact us

Put a container under a visible drip if it is safe, and use the local isolation valve if water is escaping continuously. Do not force a seized valve or remove a tap body while the supply is live. Keep water away from nearby sockets and appliances.

Check whether the leak occurs with the tap closed, open or both. If the basin waste is blocked as well, describe that separately: a slow drain and a faulty tap are different problems and can require different parts or work.

How repair or replacement is decided

Tap cartridges, seals, handles and connections vary across models. Once the tap and access are checked, the right part may be repairable or the tap may need replacement. We will not promise an exact part or a guaranteed repair from a photograph alone.

A replacement tap may need compatible connections and enough clearance beneath the sink. Let us know if you already have a new tap and include its details. We confirm whether supply work or other fittings are needed before agreeing the scope.

Arrange the next step

Send photos, the approximate age or brand if known, and whether the leak is active. We can assess a small plumbing visit through the existing plumbing route or quote if replacement and extra pipework are involved.

Ask us to confirm the visit charge and the cost of any parts before work starts. If a hidden leak is suspected because water appears away from the tap, see our leak detection service rather than assuming a tap repair will solve it.

Frequently asked questions

Can you fix a dripping tap?

Describe when it drips and send a photograph. We check whether the tap can be repaired and what parts may be needed before agreeing the work.

Why does my tap drip when it is turned off?

Wear in an internal part is one possibility, but the exact fault depends on the tap model. Send a photo and describe whether hot, cold or both sides drip.

Can a tap leak underneath the sink?

Yes. Connections beneath the basin can leak only when the tap is used or when the supply is pressurised. Show where the water appears if it is safe.

Will I need a whole new tap?

Not always. The decision depends on the tap condition, model, access and availability of compatible parts. We assess those before recommending replacement.

Can I supply my own replacement tap?

Tell us the model and share its fitting details. We check compatibility with the existing connections and access before confirming installation scope.
